I have just been asked to discount our Brokerage fees for listing a property by about 50% in order to compete with a discount brokerage. And this was my response:
“I so appreciate your interest in garnering my services, as you know, and nothing would please me more than to represent you in this very important transaction.
However, I don’t race to the bottom to be the cheapest in order to compete with Realtors who have offered you these kinds of reductions in fees, (and in services and ultimately results, by the way). Why? you ask. Because, with my competitive spirit, I’m afraid I might actually win that race! “
I am a member of a full “5 Star” concierge service brokerage, and as such, I treat a $500K listing with the same care and detailed attention that I extend to a $5 Million listing, resulting in, according to my clients, an unparalleled experience for them, together with the shiniest financial results the market will bear.
At the end of the day, my intention is to offer my clients far more in value than I ever take in compensation, and so the choice my new clients make to work with me always comes from a place of appreciating more “bang” (better skills and services) for their “buck” (better financial results).
